Tempo Media Pty Ltd is a 100% independently family owned Australian company.
S-press was founded in May 2003 and commenced it’s life as a free weekly newspaper to schools. The first issue included the same sections as today with a 40 page first edition and 24 pages of full colour.
In 2003 and 2004, S-press published 48 issues: one every week throughout the school year including school holidays. 2004 saw the introduction of a number of advertising features.
In 2005, S-press ceased to be published during the school holiday and focused on producing 40 school week issues.
In first term, The S-press Teacher Guide 2005 was published. It was the first publication directly aimed at Teachers. This publication saw catalyst for launching S-press Teacher magazine. In 2005, Teacher magazine was published each school term. In 2006, it was extended to twice per school term.
2006
In July 2006, S-press was split into two distinct publications: a weekly newspaper via subscription only and a free monthly issue.
In August 2006, Tempo Holdings Pty Ltd was renamed to Tempo Media Pty Ltd only to recognize its commitment to continue to grow in the educational and youth sector.
2007
February 2007 saw in introduction of Teacher magazine into the New South Wales market and changed to a magazine format.
S-press also underwent some changes with the monthly edition being printed as a high quality heatset magazine and the weekly edition changing name to S-press Student newspaper.
In May 2007, Teacher magazine extended its distribution to all remaining states of Australia. S-press Teacher magazine is now the largest independent national education magazine.
In July 2007, Teacher magazine was nenamed Australian Teacher Magazine, reflecting its growth and national circulation.
2008
In April, S-press was launched nationally. The newspaper is now delivered to secondary schools in every state and territory of Australia.
November 2008, Australian Teacher Magazine begins printing its pages in full colour gloss.
2009
Australian Teacher Magazine begins to publish monthly editions, after the nation's teachers demanded they receive the magazine more frequently.
S-press is named as an official media partner for National Youth Week 2009.
